Take a look at three Detroit Red Wings prospects playing at the NCAA level to keep an eye on during the 2020-21 season.
As the Detroit Red Wings continue to push through the offseason, attention is beginning to turn towards the 2020-21 season and hoping for a plan for a return to the ice. The National Hockey League (NHL) has not fully announced its plan for a return to the ice in 2020-21, which throws a wrench into this.
But for the time being, for fans who are missing out on hockey, there are a few different opportunities to start watching some Red Wings prospects. There are many prospects over in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) who are back on the ice.
However, for those who are fans of the NCAA, some players are finally getting back onto the ice as conferences around the country kick off their 2020-21 seasons. Fans should keep an eye out as the 2020-21 NCAA season gets underway.
It has taken some creativity, but most of the conferences around the way have found ways to get their players back on the ice. For example, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) organized a three-week-long bubble-format that begins in early December.
For conferences across the country, it has been a challenge, but finally, players are back on the ice, and it allows fans to start taking a look at some of the Red Wings prospects. The Red Wings have nine prospects across the NCAA in various conferences.
These players are recent draft picks that are playing their way through their four NCAA years before they will look to make the jump into the Red Wings organization. But as the NCAA season gets underway, take a break from the “prospect camp” going on overseas to take in some of the games.
Check-in on any one of the nine Detroit Red Wings players who are currently playing for NCAA teams across the country. While some of them are embarking on their senior year, and some of them are kicking off their NCAA careers.
It is just nice to see players and teams getting back on the ice once again; while the NHL ran its successful postseason bubble, some teams have not been able to get on the ice since March of 2020.
Either way, take a look at three Detroit Red Wings prospects who are kicking off their 2020-21 NCAA seasons that fans should keep an eye on.
