If fans want a glimpse at one of the organization’s future goaltenders, tune in to Quinnipiac’s games to see goaltender Keith Petruzzelli play out the 2020-21 season as their top netminder.

Those looking to get a taste of one of the best future candidates to be a Detroit Red Wings netminder, look no further than Keith Petruzzelli. The 2020-21 season has not been fully announced as some schools in the ECAC (Quinnipiac University’s conference) have cancelled winter sports.

However, if Quinnipiac follows through with a 2020-21 season of some sort, Petruzzelli will get the chance to play out another season as their go-to netminder. Petruzzelli is one of the goaltenders who should get a chance to prove that he can develop and advance from the NCAA level to the AHL level and, hopefully, the NHL level one day.

Petruzzelli is a 6-foot-5, 185-pound netminder who is entering his senior year at Quinnipiac. In 2019-20, Petruzzelli posted a 2.01 goals-against average and a .920 save-percentage while moving into the starting role.

More from Detroit Red Wings

It was rumored that Petruzzelli came into his NCAA years at Quinnipiac with a bad attitude, being arrogant and “full of himself,” but has since changed that narrative and grinded to become the netminder he is now.

He was able to turn things around and become a “team-player” and buy into things with Quinnipiac where he has elevated himself to the top netminder spot.

As Quinnipiac’s go-to netminder, he will look to continue that in 2020-21 and then hopefully carry a successful season into the Red Wings organization.

He is one of the Red Wings more “exciting” goaltender prospects the organization currently has, so keeping an eye on him is worthwhile.

Fans who want to do this should wait on the ECAC to announce a schedule and then keep an eye on Quinnipiac to see what Petruzzelli does for them as he prepares to make the jump into the Detroit Red Wings organization.
