Mathias Bromé – Örebro HK of the SHL

For Detroit Red Wings fans, Mathias Bromé may not be a household name or even a familiar one. He grades out pretty ordinarily for a prospect, especially since he is 26 years old already and just getting his shot overseas here in North America, but there are still things to like about his style of play.

Bromé has a playmaking ability that the Red Wings hope will transfer over to the North American style of play if so, making him a middle-of-the-pack forward addition to this organization. Overseas with Örebro HK in the SHL, Bromé played 23 games where he notched four goals and added 16 assists for 20 total points.

He will now look to make his first appearance in North American hockey after signing with the Red Wings during the 2019-20 season during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and stoppage that led to the nine-month break the Red Wings endured.

Michael Rasmussen – Graz99ers of the ICEHL (Austria)

The Red Wings sent Michael Rasmussen to play in Austria’s ICEHL for the Graz99ers, where he appeared in 18 games before being summoned back to North America. Rasmussen really needs to come through for this organization in 2020-21 and prove his worth, though that third-line center role looks to have his name on it.

He is a prospect to watch in 2020-21, based on Co-Site Expert Bob Heyrman’s recent rankings, Rasmussen has seemed to get a nice confidence boost after finding some production overseas. In his 18 games in the ICEHL, Rasmussen scored five goals and tallied 11 assists for 16 points.

He will now look to transfer that scoring back overseas and hopefully figure things out offensively in the NHL. Though his original ceiling seems like it was much higher than it is now, there is still a chance Rasmussen can develop into a true asset for the Red Wings.
