Detroit Red Wings: 5 players recalled from loans ahead of 2020-21 season
By Tyler Kotila
Gustav Lindström – Almtuna IS of HockeyAllsvenskan (Sweden)
In 2019-20, the Detroit Red Wings called up Lindström to the NHL roster, where he got a 16-game trial run with the organization. It was his first stint in the NHL; he would notch just one assist. He also totaled 45 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he had just five assists.

Lindström may not be lighting up the scoresheet, but he could blossom into someone with late offensive upside though a defensive defenseman is what he likely will be.
While overseas on loan for Almtuna IS of HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden, Lindström had 11 assists over 20 games played.
He may not be the most exciting of the Red Wings young defenseman, but he will likely get a chance to earn a spot, or at least find himself on the taxi squad until the American Hockey League (AHL) gets back on the ice for the 2020-21 season.
Tying it all together…
All five of these players have been recalled from their loans and will be heading back to North America (or coming to North America for the first time in Bromé’s case) for the Red Wings training camp beginning December 29th.
Some of them vying for roster spots, a “veteran” defenseman looking to blossom, and youngsters looking for a fit, all will get their chances here in North America. Keep an eye on all five of these players throughout the 2020-21 season.
Fans can officially get excited as 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings hockey is almost here again after nine long months.
