How will head coach Jeff Blashill set up the Detroit Red Wings defense in 2020-21?

The Detroit Red Wings’ 2020-2021 season starts on January 14th at 7:30 PM. We took a close look at the team’s offense earlier; today; we need to figure out the defense. Take a look at where Filip Hronek, Danny DeKeyser, and other players will wind up on the Detroit Red Wings’ defense this year.

After what felt like years of waiting, Detroit Red Wings hockey is finally back. Ten months have passed since Detroit last took the ice. With a new season underway and a slew of new teammates, the Red Wings aim to move on from their toughest season to date.

Last year, the team lost their best defenseman when Danny DeKeyser went down with an injury. With DeKeyser returning to the fold, Detroit will look to turn over a new leaf after a tough season. Additionally, general manager Steve Yzerman opted not to re-sign Jonathan Ericsson, Trevor Daley, and Madison Bowey.

The team’s defense received a mini-overhaul as Yzerman signed three new defensemen to the team. With three potential pairings and nearly ten defensemen to sort through, take a look at what Blashill could do with the Red Wings’ defense below.
