The next two prospects who made the Top 100 list is the two workhorse arms who made their debuts in 2020.

#20 Tarik Skubal – LHP

Next on the list is the Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal who is situated at number 20 on Baseball America’s list. Skubal has emerged as a phenomenal prospect who might rival Casey Mize for the top spot with this organization.

Skubal is a former ninth-rounder selection who has battled through some injuries in his rise to the big leagues. But, Skubal has since made his big league debut and is poised for another shot in 2021 to strut his stuff in the big leagues.

A lefty with plus offerings on his fastball and changeup is able to continue working with his breaking balls to develop his repertoire even more.

#28 Casey Mize – RHP

The Detroit Tigers selected Casey Mize with the first overall selection of the 2018 First-Year Amateur Player Draft, and in 2020, Mize made his big league debut. Mize finished behind Skubal on this ranking, coming in at 28th on the list.

Mize was a top prospect near the top of all lists in past seasons, but he did not come into the big leagues lighting them on fire as many would have hoped. Mize had a 6.99 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over seven starts, and 28.1 innings pitched.

With some arm issues in the past, the Tigers should hope that does not work against him. The stuff is still there, but the pinpoint accuracy that Mize was known for faded a bit. However, it was a big-league debut that was not perfect; expect positive changes in 2021.
