Detroit Red Wings: Tyler Bertuzzi to miss time while team is on the road
By Tyler Kotila
The Detroit Red Wings are going to be without forward Tyler Bertuzzi as they are on the entirety road for a six-game stint. This is their longest road trip of the year, and even if Bertuzzi is healthy, the COVID-19 protocols prevent him from flying commercial, so he will likely be staying home for the road trip even if he can return before it ends.
The Detroit Red Wings have dropped their last six games heading into the two-game set with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before getting curb stomped for their seventh straight loss. Bertuzzi’s absence certainly will not help the organization that is struggling to get things back on track.
Bertuzzi has been one of the sources of the Red Wings offense early on, so his absence will not help. While Detroit Jock City Co-Expert Bob Heyrman recently wrote that the Red Wings are getting some much-needed help back from the COVID-19 protocol list.
The return of Robby Fabbri and Filip Zadina will help with the team’s offense, but without Bertuzzi, in the lineup, they lose their number two scorer in the 2020-21 season. Bertuzzi looked to have picked up right where he left off in the 2019-20 season.
It is already going to be a tough six-game road trip for the Detroit Red Wings, but without Tyler Bertuzzi, it will be much tougher.

Bertuzzi has five goals and two assists for seven total points during the nine games he has played in during the 2020-21 season.
This is coming off the successful 2019-20 season where Bertuzzi was the Red Wings’ lone all-star representative. Bertuzzi had 71 games played where he had 21 goals and 27 assists for 48 total points before the season was paused due to the pandemic.

If Bertuzzi can come back healthy after this road trip and the Red Wings have all of their players back from the COVID-19 list, the Red Wings can expect a boost in performance from their top-six forwards.
