Detroit Red Wings: Dylan Larkin should sit a game so he’s 100% healthy

The Detroit Red Wings should not be playing Dylan Larkin if he is not 100% healthy. The Red Wings captain is not healthy from the looks of it, and there is no reason to keep sending him out there night after night.

As the Detroit Red Wings continue with their season, they are trying to win more games than literally anyone else in the league. However, this is a tall task even with the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators in the league.

The Red Wings have a shot at winning more games than at least one of these teams (well, maybe), but Larkin should not be trying to muscle through an injury during this rebuild. There have been a few times where Larkin looks banged up early on in this season, and there is just no reason for him to be a “hero” of some sort.

This current rebuild is well underway, and the level of competition on the Red Wings roster is lower than the fanbase had hoped for. There is no reason for Larkin to be out there if he is injured; he needs to sit out a game or a few to ensure that he can be 100% for this team.

Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill needs to sit Dylan Larkin to ensure he is 100% healthy.

As the Red Wings continue on their season, Larkin has not missed a single game and has played every game for the Red Wings.

But the fact of the matter is, he looks as if there could be some underlying injury or something bothering him.

Through 11 games, Larkin has registered four goals and five assists for nine total points.

He is carrying the team’s limited offense, which does not say much, but missing out on him, likely meaning another loss or two, really should not be an issue.

Last year, the Red Wings saw Larkin suit up for all 71 games that the team played before the COVID-19 pandemic caused the shutdown and end of the regular season.

The Red Wings 2019-20 season was a terrifyingly bad one, and there is reason to believe this year will be just as bad even though the hope was for improvement.

With the expectations being low as it is, what is the reason for Larkin playing through even the slightest injury? I am all for the toughness aspect, but if Larkin is not 100%, why not just sit him for a game.

Even with Tyler Bertuzzi out injured and missing the road trip, Larkin’s absence would not be that big of a deal. It is stupid to let him play and risk a larger or more substantial injury.

If Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill uses his brain, sitting Dylan Larkin for just one game is the best decision he could make.
