Detroit Lions: 3 pending free agents to watch in Super Bowl LV
By Bob Heyrman
The Detroit Lions need to focus on Demarcus Robinson during Super Bowl LV.
As the trend continues, the Detroit Lions’ fans need to focus on receiver Demarcus Robinson. Robinson is a depth pass-catcher for the Chiefs who is a pending free agent looking to sign his first deal as his rookie deal is set to expire.

With the leagues’ salary cap decreasing, the Chiefs sit at over $201 million for 2021 with 45 players under contract. It’s not a horrible situation for K.C., knowing the majority of their impact players are secured.
It appears both Watkins and Robinson will be looking for employment elsewhere. The Detroit Lions need receiving help, so why not a couple of speedy pass-catchers with championship pedigree?
Robinson had been one of the players placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list due to being in close contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus. Robinson was one of the players getting a hair cut by a barber set to lineup a plethora of K.C. players before departing for Tampa Bay.
Robinson played over 30 snaps in 15 of the Chiefs’ games in 2020, reeling in 56 balls totaling 466 yards and three scores.
He’d be a nice compliment to Kenny Golladay if the Lions retain him for the 2021 season. I don’t feel Robinson has the makings to be a WR1, but he has WR2 potential, something Detroit seeks with Jones expected to sign elsewhere.
Robinson has recorded 1,415 yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons with the Chiefs. I expect Robinson’s new deal to average somewhere around $6 million per season.
