Detroit Lions fans, we are nearly one month away from the 2021 NFL Draft, and draft season is starting to hit full swing. This was apparent after the 49ers, Dolphins, and Eagles executed a blockbuster trade that gave the 49ers the third overall pick.

This is one of the most talented drafts in recent history, so no matter who goes ahead of the Detroit Lions, they should have the opportunity to grab a great prospect. We will try to build what the new GM Brad Holmes draft board will look like with the seventh pick with that knowledge.

Players nearly guaranteed to be gone when the Detroit Lions pick at seven.

Both Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson look like two of the better quarterback prospects in recent history and are likely to go first and second overall. Something crazy might happen on draft night, but no one should expect the Lions to have any chance of getting either player.

1. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

Trevor Lawrence is considered the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck. He has all the tools with a great arm, accuracy, athleticism, and a winning pedigree. The Lions would love to have a prospect of that level, but Lawrence has been a near-lock to go number one since his sophomore year, and nothing seems to have changed that.

2. Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

Zach Wilson had a breakout year that shot him up draft boards and has him as a near-lock for a top three pick and the second quarterback to go. Wilson is a master of making plays out of nothing. He moves well in and out of the pocket to avoid rushers and can make great throws on the move.

He still has tremendous accuracy and anticipation in the pocket, plus a strong arm capable of making every throw. Wilson looks like a future franchise quarterback, and the Lions should pull the trigger on the opportunity to get one.
