The Detroit Red Wings are closing out their 2020-21 season, but two of the players that hail from the Czech Republic are just getting started. Forwards Jakub Vrana and Filip Zadina have struck a bond, and it has shown on the stat sheet.

While Zadina has been a little quiet on the scoresheet, he has played alongside Vrana, who has been red hot since being traded to the Detroit Red Wings. Both are from the Czech Republic and have logged playing time alongside each other.

In Vrana’s four-goal game, Zadina logged two assists and has looked like he could play well alongside his fellow Czech native. The Czech natives are both on the younger end of things, with Zadina being four years younger than the 25-year old Vrana.

However, Vrana and Zadina will be able to continue growing this connection during the 2021-22 season when they are reunited. With just six games left, there is not a ton of time for the Czech connection to keep it going, but they will have next season.

The 2021-22 season will be fun to see how the Detroit Red Wings’ new Czech connection works out.

More from Detroit Jock City

Since coming to the Red Wings, Vrana has played in five games where he has five goals and an assist for six points.

Vrana needed a change of scenery, and since coming to the Red Wings from the Capitals, he has looked much better.

Vrana’s performance with the Red Wings brings him to 44 total games, where he has 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 total points.

After being included in the Anthony Mantha trade from this year’s trade deadline, Vrana has adjusted well with his new linemate.

On the other hand, Zadina is still young and trying to find his way totally in the NHL.

This season, Zadina has logged 43 games with five goals and 13 assists for 18 total points for the Red Wings in 2020-21.

Vrana and Zadina are not the only Czech players on the Red Wings roster, but they have been linemates in 2020-21. Filip Hronek, the Red Wings leading scorer, also hails from the Czech Republic.

The hope for Vrana and Zadina is that they will be able to capitalize on this Czech connection and find success during these last few games. Ending on a high note will allow them to go into the 2021-22 season, looking to find more success.
