Detroit Red Wings news: 2021 NHL Draft Lottery slated for early June

The Detroit Red Wings are closing in on the end of their 2020-21 season with five games left to play. They are at the bottom of the league and will be heading towards another lottery pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The Detroit Red Wings will be hoping for a high-pick once again to get a chance at one of the top talents. Frankly, the Red Wings will be hoping for a chance to pick one of the University of Michigan Wolverines who are slated to be picked in the top ten.
TSN Insider Frank Seravalli said that the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery will be set for June 2nd, 2021. This announcement comes just about two months before the draft itself, which will occur at the end of June. The Red Wings are going to be hoping for some good odds to get another top prospect.
The last two seasons have left the Red Wings with Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, who have both signed their entry-level deals. But the latest 2021 NHL Draft Lottery rumors have sparked some thought as to where the Red Wings will end up.
The Detroit Red Wings will reportedly find out their draft position in early June with the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery announcement.

As the season comes to an end and the Red Wings await their fate, they will have a couple of other things to think about as the Draft Lottery approaches.
There is going to be an addition to the draft lottery odds with the addition of the Seattle Kraken.
Since the Kraken are joining the league, they will get the third-best lottery odds.
Currently, the Red Wings are 17-25-9 over 51 games with just five left to play. They are just one point ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are last in the division.
Six teams currently have fewer points than the Red Wings, but with COVID-19 changes and schedule switches, the Red Wings will likely still be in one of the top five lottery odds for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
With the news of the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery being set, the Red Wings now know when they will pick in this summer’s draft. It seems like they are likely going to be near the very top and could have a shot at one of the top talents like Owen Power or Matty Beniers.
