Detroit Lions news: 4 key match-ups on the 2021 schedule

Lastly and certainly not least is the team’s battle with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Detroit Lions will head out to Los Angeles to face the Rams on October 24th, at 4:05 PM (ET) in one heck of a match-up. On the field, it will be the first time that the Lions will be matched up against their former quarterback, Matthew Stafford.

Stafford and the Lions parted ways in the blockbuster trade earlier this Spring when the Lions acquired Jared Goff.
But beyond the return to Los Angeles for Goff and the tear-jerking sight of Stafford in a Rams’ uniform, there is more of a connection up top as well.
Holmes was a member of the Rams front office before he was hired in Detroit, so he will be getting a homecoming game as well.
On the defensive side of the ball, Michael Brockers will be squaring off against his former team as well.
In terms of recent match-ups, the Lions have the edge in the last five match-ups with three wins.
In the most recent match-up in 2018, the Rams defeated the Lions for a 30-16 victory.
But this might be the biggest game on the schedule in 2021 with all of the homecomings in this match-up, circle October 24th on your calendar for quite the match-up.
The Detroit Lions have undergone quite the change since the season ended in 2020, with a new front-office regime and new coaching staff. Besides these match-ups, fans should be excited to see how the team shapes out nonetheless.
The 2021 season should be exciting for the fanbase at a minimum. The on-field product is not expected to increase greatly in caliber, but it will be exciting for fans to see how the new coaching staff operates.
