The Detroit Pistons have had a busy few days leading up to the start of free agency. Obviously, there was the selection of Cade Cunningham, the top prospect in the draft and the new face of the franchise, but that was not the only move they made.

The Detroit Pistons also selected forward Isiah Livers, center Luka Garza, and center Balsa Koprivica. They also freed up salary cap space by trading Mason Plumlee and cutting Cory Joseph, which should also free up more minutes for young players like Killian Hayes and Isiah Stewart. Here are some players they can pursue in free agency to complement their young core.

The Detroit Pistons should consider signing Austin Rivers.

Austin Rivers could be an interesting veteran addition who could rebuild his stock with an extended role on the Pistons. Rivers has bounced around the league the past couple of years and most recently took a minimum deal with the Nuggets.

He was forced into a starting role in Denver due to injuries and played pretty well, scoring 9.2 points per game on a 57.2% effective field goal percentage in the playoffs. Rivers could slot in as the third or fourth guard who could run point with Frack Jackson or Hamidou Diallo or play off the ball with Cade Cunningham or Killian Hayes.

He is a solid team defender on the court, can create his own shot and is a solid outside shooter. Rivers is not a flashy free agent, but he could be a solid addition who could stabilize the bench unit and play with the bevy of young guards on the roster.
