One of the big questions is which ones could make the NHL roster and who might still need more times in the minors. Not all of the Red Wings youngsters are quite ready to make that leap. Some are, and some are not, but training camp gives these youngsters a nice taste of the NHL caliber players as they work alongside many veterans to develop and strut their stuff.
There’s still plenty of time before training camp kicks off, and these prospects will find out their fate soon enough. Some may earn a spot on the NHL roster with the Red Wings ahead of opening night, and others will likely head to Grand Rapids.
To be clear, being sent to Grand Rapids is not going to be the worst thing for some of these prospects. Some of the prospects are going to need that extra time in the minors to work on their development and transition to the next level smoothly.
