Perhaps the most obvious of these five prospects is Moritz Seider. The prized German prospect is going to put on a show for the Red Wings, and that seems to be pretty clear. The sixth overall pick from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft is likely going to be stationed on the team’s blueline when the puck drops on Opening night.

He’s twenty years old and ready to make his NHL debut. Seider’s big-bodied defensive game is going to bring plenty of benefit to the team’s blueline. He spent the 2020-21 season on a loan in the SHL With Rögle BK, where he put on a show.

En route to an SHL Defenseman of the Year award, among other hardware for a great performance, Seider logged 41 games where he scored seven goals and tallied 21 assists for 28 total points.

He is no stranger to the North American game after playing the 2019-20 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins, logging 49 games where he had two goals and 20 assists for 22 total points, and it looked like he was adjusting quite smoothly.

Bringing a new style of play to the Red Wings blueline is going to be incredibly positive for the Red Wings. He brings a physical presence on the ice while also being able to produce in the offensive zone. The Red Wings just might’ve lucked into their version of Victor Hedman, just saying.

To say the least, Seider is going to be fun to watch. Most of the Red Wings fans know to keep an eye on the youngster, but if it was not clear, it is now. Keep an eye on Sieder in training camp; he’s likely going to do some noteworthy stuff.
