Detroit Lions players whose stock is on the rise

Ifeatu Melifonwu/Bobby Price

This spot was originally going to go to rookie Ifeatu Melifonwu until he went out with a “pretty serious” thigh injury. Melifonwu was thrown into the fire after Jeff Okudah’s Achilles injury. Early in training camp, Melifonwu looked like he might need a year to learn and acclimate to the NFL, but in his first action, he looked like he belonged against great talents in Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

Unfortunately, his night ended when he was injured after giving up a perfectly thrown bomb to Davante Adams. Hopefully Melifonwu can bounce back from his injury and continue to build off a solid game to start his young career.

Once Melifonwu was out, Bobby Price, the converted safety, was the next man up at corner. It would not be surprising to see the player who had only played corner for a few weeks struggle against the Rodgers and Adams combo.

Surprisingly, he was not picked on by the talented duo in his debut. He even was able to step up and make a few tackles in the run game. With Melifonwu and Okudah out for multiple weeks, look for offenses to target the inexperienced player to see if he continue to play well.
