The Detroit Lions should consider trading Jamie Collins Sr. to the New England Patriots.
Collins joined the Lions in 2020 along with Duron Harmon to solidify the defense; both were very familiar with head coach Matt Patricia and fit his scheme. Like we’ve seen in the past, players that seemingly thrive in the New England-like scheme struggle in others; that seems to be the case with Collins.
If you recall, Collins also struggled mightily after leaving New England for Cleveland in the past; he was able to rejuvenate his career by re-joining Bill Belichick’s Patriots before landing in Detroit.
It’s clear Collins fits that New England scheme and he’d be a perfect plug-and-play candidate if he could find his way back to the Patriots.
The Detroit Lions should consider adding receiver N’Keal Harry who had been rumored to have asked for a trade this past offseason, as a possible return in a Collins deal. The Lions, already decimated at the receiver position, saw their top pass-catcher, Tyrell Williams, recently placed on the injured reserve with a concussion.
The former first-round choice of the Patriots has amassed 414 yards on 45 receptions totaling four touchdowns over his first two seasons. Harry may need a fresh start, and the Lions can provide him with that, plus an abundance of targets.
