Penei Sewell earned the top offensive grade for the Detroit Lions in Sunday’s loss.

Detroit Lions’ rookie offensive tackle, Penei Sewell, is starting to figure things out at the NFL level.  Sewell earned a tremendous 87.3 mark as a run blocker and 81.3 in pass protection this past Sunday.

It was Sewell’s best overall performance since Week One against the San Francisco 49ers, and he only allowed two pressures and one hurry this past weekend without allowing a sack.  This just a week after former Lion Everson Griffen took the rookie to school.  Before Sunday’s game, the rookie tackle allowed a pair of sacks in each of his last two contests against Chicago and Minnesota.

The one player many of us expect to see atop the list week after week is tight end T.J. Hockenson.  Unfortunately, it hasn’t been that way as PFF has the third-year tight end up and down.

Hockenson, who has been nursing an injury, entered Sunday, coming off of three straight down weeks, came up with eight receptions on ten targets totaling 74 yards which is exactly what he’s totaled in yardage and receptions over the previous three games combined.

Hockenson earned himself a 73.7 overall grade for his Week Six performance.  Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn needs to make getting Hockenson the football more consistently a priority.
