The Detroit Red Wings continue cruising through their 2021-22 season as a fun group for the fans to watch. There’s offense coming in from many sources, not just the red-hot rookies who are taking the league by storm.

This offseason, the Detroit Red Wings took a gamble on bringing in forward Pius Suter. The Denmark native was coming off his first season in the NHL, where he found success with the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

It may have been a fluke, or the 25-year old forward may be able to be an impact part of a team’s middle-six in the forward depth charts. He started out the season moving a little slow with his new squad but has since gotten on a hot streak and finding ways to create offense.

The Red Wings are looking for players to produce and start moving this team into a competitive direction. Suter is one of the players who can do this. He’s on a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Red Wings, and hopefully, this hot streak is a sign of good things to continue.

Detroit Red Wings forward Pius Suter is red hot lately.

In his first NHL season with the Blackhawks, Suter was able to wrangle in 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 total points over 55 games played. When the calendar flipped over to 2021-22, Suter did not quite get off to the start that many would have hoped for.

Through his first 11 games with the Red Wings, Suter had just two points. In his last two games, Suter has four points. Suter has played in 13 total games where he has three goals and three assists for the Red Wings.

At times he’s been bumped up to the Red Wings top line and been shifting around the team’s lines night in and night out. But in the team’s last two contests, it seems that he has started to settle in. He’s been making plays and creating scoring chances, even burying a beautiful goal short side on Laurent Brossoit, who had a rough game against the Red Wings on Sunday night.

Here’s the goal:

While Suter may not go out and pop 30+ goals for the Red Wings, this uptick in points is certainly something to be joyful about. Adding in production for Suter is an excellent sign that he is beginning to settle in with this Red Wings team.

A two-game set with four points is going to boost the confidence and hopefully help him keep a steady clip going as the season continues.

If Suter can be a reliable second-line player with the absence of Jakub Vrána, the Red Wings should be more than pleased. It’s been a great couple of games for the Red Wings offseason addition; the hope should be for him to keep this up in the coming weeks and months.
