The Detroit Lions should consider signing pending free agent Cedrick Wilson.

Yes, another Cowboy, and trust me, it pains me to write about the Dallas Cowboys, but Cedrick Wilson is someone the Detroit Lions need to consider signing as a depth receiver.

Wilson will be more valuable than expensive to the Detroit Lions if they choose to sign him this winter when he hits the open market.

Spotrac has Wilson’s market value set at $6.1 million annually, and he’s proven to be a reliable number three receiver in a good offense.

Wilson was a sixth-round draft pick back in 2019 by the Cowboys’ 208th overall, and he’s far outproduced that draft position this season for the Cowboys. With Gallup forced to miss time, Wilson has been elevated from the fourth receiver to third on the depth chart making 30 grabs totaling 420 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games this season.

He’s also produced an impressive catch rate of over 68% this season.  Wilson is averaging 14 yards per catch this season, and according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), has earned himself a reliable 68.8 overall rating for his work in 2021.

Before the start of this season, Wilson had made 22 receptions totaling 235 yards and two touchdowns in 22 games.

Again, Wilson won’t change the franchise or anything, but he’d have the opportunity to provide depth to the Detroit Lions over the next few years while they continue to rebuild.
