The Detroit Red Wings are seeing their top line come alive with the scoring. While the highlight of Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils was Dylan Larkin’s four-point night, Tyler Bertuzzi also had a great game of his own.

Since returning from the COVID-19 protocols, the Detroit Red Wings winger has found a way to get involved and get on the scoresheet immediately. As Bally Sports commentator Mickey Redmond mentioned during a recent telecast, Bertuzzi is a streaky player.

He’s right. This type of performance could be the indicator that Bertuzzi is going to stay hot over the next few games and be able to produce some offense for this Red Wings team. This year, Bertuzzi has missed some time due to his inability to travel to Canada and injuries/COVID-19 protocol.

But, after returning, he has still been a consistent producer in the team’s offense, but this recent uptick in points has to be a good sign that he’s getting hot at the right time. The Red Wings need a solid finish to December to remain a competitive team heading into the New Year.

Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi is getting hot at the right time.

In his last three games back from COVID-19 protocols, he was able to grab three goals to add to his season totals. In 2021-22, Bertuzzi has played in 23 games where he has 12 goals and nine assists for 21 total points.

It is great to see Bertuzzi back on the ice and see him making such an impact like he is. He’s been able to look like a goal scorer out there. Not to mention that Bertuzzi is not the fastest player on the ice, but he’s gotten out there and gotten back to his role as the pest.

For those watching the Red Wings games night in and night out, pay attention to Bertuzzi’s ability to get into the dirty areas and still come away with the puck. He’s got an exceptional stick and phenomenal hand-eye coordination for someone who may not be able to beat you with speed.

In each of the last few games, there have been several times where Bertuzzi has used his stickhandling and simple abilities with the stick to win battles or to put a move on a defender. If he gets hot and starts seeing an uptick in scoring, it’s only going to help this team even more.

The Red Wings are making a push, and the playoffs are not entirely out of the picture, so having Bertuzzi get hot right now is only going to be more beneficial for this team.
