Detroit Lions vs. Seahawks: Week 17 betting odds, spread, and prediction
By Tyler Kotila
The Detroit Lions have just two games left in their 2021 season. They are headed across the country to take on the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 17 matchup as they close things down on the season.
While the Detroit Lions are 2-12-1 and simply looking to come away with the best draft position possible, each win jeopardizes that. The Seahawks are also having a down year, sitting at the bottom of the NFC West with a 5-10 record.
The Lions are coming off of a tough loss to the Atlanta Falcons, where Tim Boyle threw a costly interception that would end things. The Seahawks also had a last-second loss where the Lions NFC North rivals, the Chicago Bears, would secure a 25-24 victory.
As the Lions head into this Week 17 matchup, they really are just trying to get across the finish line of this season and end up with the best draft position they can. The mock drafts are likely to start pouring in, but this Sunday’s matchup could affect it.
The Detroit Lions head to Seattle to battle with the Seahawks this Sunday.
This Sunday, the Lions are going to hope that quarterback Jared Goff is ready to go and able to get back on track after his stint on the COVID-19 list. However, Lions reporter Chris Burke noted that even though he is returning from the COVID-19 list, he has a lingering knee injury from the shocking win against the Arizona Cardinals.
Goff has to be healthy for the Lions to have any shot at winning this Sunday. Not to mention some think that Goff can be the long-term answer and these last two games could be a chance to prove it. Whether you’re in the “Lions should try to win,” or the “Lions need better draft position” category, there’s plenty to look at for betting purposes.
The Seahawks are struggling, but their defense is carrying them right now. If the Lions want to have a shot at winning, they need to come out and establish the run while seeing Goff have similar success as he had in recent games.
But the Seahawks, on the other hand, are going to come out looking to get a win and get things moving in the right direction to finish their season on a high note. With quality receiver options between Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, their offense is likely going to be just fine.
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will have the option to run and spread the ball around whenever he likes because the Lions’ defense is still not doing the best with containing mobile quarterbacks.
Detroit Lions betting odds, spread, and prediction
According to WynnBET, the Seattle Seahawks are favored by 7.0 points at the time of writing this betting preview. With the -7.0 point line favoring the Seahawks, the Over/Under is set at 42.5 points on the game.
Prediction: The Lions are only given seven points to cover, but I think the Seahawks will get their offense rolling quickly. I like the under in this game, even if Goff is under center. I like the Seahawks -7.0 and the under heading into this Sunday’s matchup to keep it short and sweet.
