The Detroit Red Wings are approaching the trade deadline season between now and this time next month. The deadline is March 21st, 2022, and is a little over a month away from passing. This is when teams start to make moves or at least get the feelers out there for what offers may be on the table.

Teams like the Detroit Red Wings are perched with one leg on each side of the fence. While the team will not be making a Stanley Cup Championship run this season, adding in some talent to start building is not the worst decision in the world.

The last few years have had a lot of trades that would net the Red Wings a lot of draft capital and picks to bolster things up for future trades or add in more prospects for the rebuild. But as the Red Wings start to move away from this time of rebuilding, adding in players of value may not be the worst thing in the world.

It’s hard to start mortgaging picks, but bringing in players with the hopes of an extension to keep them around has to be an intriguing thought for General Manager (GM) Steve Yzerman. There’s still a good chance the team will end up selling and be looking to move players this trade deadline season.

However, it’s not trade deadline season without diving into a few different options and hypotheticals for the Red Wings. It’s hard not to sit there and look at players who may get shopped and not start thinking about some mock trades in your mind.

That being said, here are three players the Red Wings should be looking at acquiring.
