The Detroit Red Wings should be looking forward to the return of Filip Hronek, who has been in the COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols. The Red Wings have a crop of quality defensemen on their roster, which will only be strengthened by Hronek returning.

Before the Detroit Red Wings had rookie Moritz Seider arrive in the big leagues, they were able to trust things to Filip Hronek. He’s been the steady player that the Red Wings could count on and rely on getting some offense rolling.

Without Hronek being in the lineup, there’s more pressure put on guys like Moritz Seider, Nick Leddy, Danny DeKeyser, among others. The Red Wings have to realize that even if Hronek is more of a second pairing guy, he serves a purpose and takes some pressure off the top pairing.

Hronek has been a quality performer for years now, and keeping him around to patrol the blue line is going to be essential for the Red Wings as they move forward. The organization still has some exciting prospects in the pipeline, but Hronek’s presence is very beneficial.

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Filip Hronek’s presence on the ice is key.

The Red Wings have gotten four quality seasons out of Hronek so far, with another good performance on the way in 2021-22. Hronek has logged 46 games played this season, where he has four goals and 20 assists for 24 total points.

It is tough for the Red Wings to miss time with COVID, whether it’s a game or two or even a long time. Hronek is an integral part of the team’s defense core and should continue to prove to be a valuable asset.

While the Red Wings have more to look forward to in Moritz Seider, there’s plenty to be excited about. There’s still plenty of value that comes from Hronek being in the team’s defense core. Having him around to work with the younger players is clutch.

The Red Wings can bank on Hronek working with these younger players like Seider (now) and Simon Edvinsson (in the future) to show them the ropes of the NHL. Hronek can fit this role perfectly for the Red Wings and should be expected to excel in it.

But there’s got to be some relief in getting Hronek back in the lineup for the time being. The Red Wings are just looking to stay alive, and having everyone healthy is crucial for them moving forward.
