Lions head coach Dan Campbell showed last season that he’s perfectly fine playing it safe in the preseason, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t players to pay attention to tonight.

There are players fighting for starting positions, roster spots and more, including a motivated Jameson Williams ready to make an impact after receiving a six-game suspension to start the regular season.

While there’s sure to be players fighting for jobs all over the field tonight, let’s focus on three Lions players in crucial positions.

3 Lions Players to Watch vs. Giants

There are interesting roster questions all over the field, from figuring out the receivers after Amon-Ra St. Brown and Williams to fine-tuning the backup offensive linemen and settling on a rotation for the defensive secondary.

But these three players don’t have much time to start making their mark.

Jameson Williams, WR

Campbell told reporters last week that they’re going to give Williams plenty of game reps, especially with the first six games of the regular season already lost to suspension.

Last year, Campbell rested impact starters early in the preseason, but Williams losing time to injury last season and suspension this season has necessitated a unique situation.

Watch for Williams to burn by some backup Giants defenders early tonight.

Jack Campbell, MLB

One of two controversial 1st Round picks from the Lions in this year’s NFL Draft, Campbell is locked into a position battle with Derrick Barnes to start at middle linebacker.

There’s no guarantee Campbell plays much tonight, but if he does, it will be a fun chance to get a glimpse at what he can do at the NFL level.

Nate Sudfeld , QB

Lions fans might not be too excited about Sudfeld, but it should be interesting to watch him play for his job at the very least.

After Detroit brought in veteran QB Teddy Bridgewater on a 1-year, $5 million pact earlier this week, Sudfeld suddenly became expendable. But that might not be the case if he shines tonight.
