Let’s get this out of the way: last week’s loss to the Ravens was about as ugly as it can get, but that doesn’t mean the sky is falling!

Just about everything that can go wrong went wrong for the Lions in Week 7, but I don’t expect that to continue, and neither do oddsmakers.

Detroit is listed as an 8-point favorite over Las Vegas in Week 8 at DraftKings Sportsbook, which tied for the fourth-largest spread of the week!

Let’s dig into these early odds to see what else they tell us about Week 8 (and learn how to win $200 in bonus bets at DraftKings).

Lions vs. Raiders Week 8 Early Odds

It’s no surprise to see Detroit favored to win this game, but eight points is a big spread in the NFL, and the Raiders aren’t as bad as some may think.

Las Vegas (3-4) is second in the AFC West only to Kansas City, and the team could get starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo back for Monday Night Football.

But the Lions are still considerably better, at least according the the odds, and they’ll be itching to avenge last week’s loss.

The difference between these teams is even more drastic when you look at their projected total team scoring.

The Lions are listed at 27.5 points while the Raiders are sitting at 17.5 points.

That means there certainly could be some value in betting on the spread, especially if Garoppolo can’t play or is limited.

If you’re worried about such a large spread, don’t be. The Lions easily covered a 10-point spread against the Panthers earlier this year and the Raiders fell far short of covering a 7.5-point spread against Buffalo.

This is also expected to be a relatively high scoring game, with the total points set at 45.5 – the fourth highest total of Week 8.

Even with David Montgomery still out with a rib injury and Marvin Jones Jr.’s release from the team, this Lions offense is still expected to put up big points in a comfortable win.
