It had become progressively more challenging to bet on the Lions as they stacked wins to begin the season, but now we have our opportunity to strike!

Detroit looked downright UGLY in a blowout loss to Baltimore this past Sunday, and that performance is providing us with some strong betting value.

The Lions’ odds to win over 11.5 games has shifted from -150 to +105 ($100 bet profits $105)!

Let’s break down why that’s a great bet to place, and why now is the best time to place it.

Lions Regular Season Win Total

Of course, we could have gotten this number far lower before the season began, but we can’t do anything about that now, so let’s see if this bet is still worth it.

Detroit will have to finish no worse than 12-5 to hit this wager, which means they can only afford to lose three more games in the regular season.

HOWEVER, the schedule starts to get a whole lot easier starting this week!

The Lions will have to play these teams to finish out their season: Raiders, Chargers, Bears (twice), Packers, Saints, Broncos, Vikings (twice) and the Cowboys.

Just one of those teams (Dallas) has a winning record!

Detroit should be favored in most, if not all, of those games, which means they’d have to be upset four times in 10 games for you to lose this bet.

It’s also worth considering that the Lions will likely make a move at the trade deadline. General manager Brad Holmes has already made a few big splashes during his tenure, but those moves have ended with the departure of star players like Matthew Stafford and TJ Hockenson.

This time, expect the Lions to add talent if they make a move.

Coach Dan Campbell recently told the Detroit Free Press he has “100%” faith that any moves Holmes makes will be to improve this year’s team.

Detroit is an 8-point favorite over the Raiders in Week 8. If they win, these odds might not get any better all season.
