6. Zack Short, Utility

Short was a decent backup infielder last season, but the promotions of Justin Henry-Malloy and Colt Keith likely will leave him without a spot.

Short is a solid-enough MLB bench player, with some pop (nine doubles, seven homers in 221 at-bats), speed (five steals) and good plate discipline (28 walks), but he doesn’t do anything exceptionally.

The 28-year-old infielder is also light on MLB experience (177 games across three seasons) and doesn’t hit enough for contact (.204 batting average last season) to be worth investing much into.

If anything, Zach McKinstry or Andy Ibanez could be the perfect replacement for the Zack Short role.
