2. Josh Reynolds, wide receiver
After giving the Detroit Lions a handful of really good years, Josh Reynolds left in the 2024 offseason to sign with the Denver Broncos on a two-year, very team-friendly contract at just $8 million in total money.
It should be impossible to understate the importance of Reynolds in the overall ascent of the Detroit Lions' offense in the Jared Goff era. Causation is not always correlation, but got take a look at the significant jump in Goff's numbers before Reynolds arrived back in 2021 and after. The two were previously teammates with the Rams and having Reynolds in the fold seemingly helped Goff settle in.
And Reynolds is one of the best WR3/WR4 types of players in the league when he's healthy.
He proved that early on with the Broncos before suffering a hand injury that ultimately landed him on IR. What happened after the injury, however, is way worse. Reynolds is lucky to be alive after being shot in the head outside of a Denver night club near the middle of last season. He not only survived the event but returned to the field later in the year...as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Reynolds was cut by Denver and picked up by Jacksonville, only to be released this offseason. A return to Detroit could not only help the Detroit offense but also help Reynolds get back to a healthy, familiar situation football-wise.
He's still got big play ability and he can still contribute to a team that could be saying goodbye to Tim Patrick, another veteran in NFL Free Agency.
