The Detroit Lions were already facing a tough situation with their cornerback room. Terrion Arnold faced uncertainty after two disappointing campaigns, and coming off an injury-riddled season, there weren't many guarantees about his starting spot.

Now that he has been released from the team, the Lions have to look for replacements. They desperately need help at cornerback, and they may have to dig deep into the free agency pool to find some help.

We'll take a look at three potential options they should consider. While none of them is necessarily ideal, these are probably the best players the Lions can aspire to get at this point in the offseason.

3 cornerback options the Lions should consider

3. Trevon Diggs

It's been way too long since Trevon Diggs was a reliable option. He gambles way too much at times, and he's struggled to stay healthy, not to mention that he's burned some bridges with his demeanor toward coaches. That said, he may also know that this might be his last chance to play in the league.

He used to be the ultimate ballhawk, and he still has a strong nose for the ball, even if his turnover numbers are way down. He'd come with a major risk, but he may also have the highest upside among all options available right now. They can roll the dice on him with a short-term contract and move on from him if he becomes a problem in the locker room.

2. Marshon Lattimore

Not so long ago, Marshon Lattimore was one of the toughest and most consistent cornerbacks in the game. Unfortunately, Father Time is ruthless, and after dealing with so many injuries throughout the course of his career, he's no longer the top-notch guy he used to be. At least, he didn't look like it in his time with the Washington Commanders.

To be fair, the Commanders' defense has been far from good since Dan Quinn took the reins, so perhaps a change of scenery will be just what he needs to bounce back. That said, there are some major durability concerns with him, especially at this point in his career.

1. Kenny Moore II

Kenny Moore II is the best cornerback in the market right now. He's better suited to play in the slot, though he also has some experience on the boundary.

Regardless, having him there at nickel would give the Lions more freedom to try their luck with rookie CB Keith Abney II, or maybe even move Roger McCreary outside and figure out where he can be of more help.

Moore asked for his trade or release because he wasn't a good fit for Lou Anarumo's system, but he's coming off a strong season and is a former Pro Bowler. He's one of the most underrated guys at the position, and even if he's not an outside cornerback like Arnold, he might be just what this team needs to straighten the course of the ship in the secondary.
