The Detroit Lions were one of the most disappointing teams in football last season. As such, there will be no margin for error, and pressure will be as high as it's ever been for Dan Campbell's team. Notably, it all starts in training camp.
This is where the season is won and lost, and it's also where guys on the outside looking in prove that they can handle the heat. Through the first week or so of training camp, some guys have separated themselves from the rest of the pack.
Either because they look poised for a breakout season, have suddenly become a threat to crash the roster, or might be in for an expanded role, some guys are dominating more than others. Here, we'll dig a little deeper into that.
3 Lions players dominating training camp
Tyler Lacy
The Lions' pass-rushing unit has been a talking point for all the wrong reasons. Of course, Aidan Hutchinson is a star and will get his production, but the Lions may not have a reliable sidekick. Rookie Derrick Moore and DJ Wonnum are the strongest candidates, or so it seemed.
Tyler Lacy went from being an afterthought to drawing some praise from Coach Campbell. He's making the most of his reps opposite Hutchinson, showcasing impressive pocket pressure off the edge.
Granted, he still has a long road ahead to get on the field when it actually counts. That said, it wouldn't be shocking to see him move past Moore in the pecking order and be the first guy off the bench in the regular season.
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier played sparingly and wasn't much of a factor in his first season in the league. However, he's now emerged as a legitimate contender to start at right tackle, and even if that's not the case, his positional versatility has been the talk of training camp.
The Lions are working Frazier all around the line, and Coach Campbell hinted at a bigger role for him in his second year in the league. He's competing with rookie Blake Miller and veteran Larry Borom, so it's not like he's going against Penei Sewell.
Losing Taylor Decker was a big blow, and the Lions' offensive line as a whole will look vastly different this season. That might include having Frazier take the field not only at right tackle but wherever he might be needed.
Jameson Williams
For years, Lions fans have waited for Jameson Williams to take the next step and emerge as the playmaking superstar he's always looked poised to become. He's taken some time, but it might finally happen in 2026.
The Alabama product is making defensive backs look foolish on every play and drill. He's put in a lot of work on his hands to avoid unnecessary drops and mental miscues, and the hard work is definitely paying off.
Williams' big-play specialty has always been a plus for this team, but consistency has been on and off. He's taken things personally this offseason, and it wouldn't be shocking to see him challenge Amon-Ra St. Brown for the WR1 job, at least production-wise.
