4 Lions Fans Will Be Happy to See Leave in 2025 Free Agency
3. Jonah Williams, DL
Jonah Williams made his way to Detroit midway through the 2024 season after playing games for the Minnesota Vikings and LA Rams. Considering how the former Weber State defender was just a full-time starter for the Rams in 2023, the hope was that he could provide the Lions with some much-needed defensive depth for a playoff run.
Williams went on to play just three games for the Lions, including the playoff loss to the Commanders. He didn't give Detroit fans many positive things to write home about as he finished those games with grades of 47.1 against the run, 24.2 as a tackler, and 45.1 for overall defense.
Williams will be 30 by the time the 2025 campaign begins, meaning he's at the stage where a turnaround performance is unlikely.
If Williams had looked more like his 2023 self, the Lions would likely at least be interested in inviting him to training camp. Instead, the former 2019 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year will probably be forced to test his luck in free agency in March.
The Lions will replace him with someone who can contribute more consistently on the defensive side of the ball.
