4 Lions Free Agents Who May Still Re-Sign With Detroit

4. QB Teddy Bridgewater

This one is certainly unlikely to happen, at least this spring. Bridgewater made a surprise return to the Lions in December after winning the state title in Florida as the head coach of Miami Northwestern. He was Jared Goff's backup for the Lions down the stretch, raising questions about Hendon Hooker's future in Detroit.

As things stand now, however, Bridgewater will not return to Detroit. Unless the Lions make an unexpected QB move in free agency or the draft, Hooker will continue to be the QB2 to start the 2025 season.

Instead, Bridgewater will be returning to his alma mater for his second year. Considering how passionate he is about his role as a mentor and coach in his hometown, it's hard to see Bridgewater signing with any team in the NFL before the high school football season is over.

Last year, Bridgewater revealed that despite receiving multiple offers from teams around the league, it was "Lions or bust". He has a special relationship with Dan Campbell and wanted to return to Detroit to help his former team and head coach.

It's certainly not impossible to imagine him doing the same in 2025. If the Lions need a backup QB before the end of the regular season, they could easily turn to the 32-year-old signal-caller once again.

Bridgewater hasn't hinted at retirement from the NFL or shut the door on a Lions reunion. As long as that is the case, he will continue to be an option for the Lions.
