4 Pistons Leaving Detroit in the New Year

2. Malik Beasley
Even though Hardaway Jr. starts over him, Malik Beasley has been the more effective veteran shooting guard for the team. He has played in all 33 games for the Pistons and averaged 28 minutes per game. In his minutes, he is having one of his best seasons as a pro.
Beasley is averaging 16.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while taking a whopping 9.2 threes per game and making 3.8 of them. The 41.3% mark from downtown is his career-best and does wonders for the Pistons offense.
Similar to Hardaway Jr, the 28-year-old doesn't do much else other than shooting. Unlike TJH, however, Beasley is one of the best in the league. Beasley coming off screens and bombing threes in motion is a huge part of the Pistons offense. His off-ball gravity opens things up for the rest of the team that can struggle in the half-court.
Unfortunately, the Pistons only signed Beasley to a one-year, $6 million deal in the offseason. Even though that is a bargain contract, it doesn't allow Detroit to re-sign him because they don't have Bird Rights on him. This offseason by the front office may cost the Pistons in the summer as Beasley will surely get a ton of attention on the market.
Every team in the NBA can use more shooting. Beasley will have plenty of offers to choose from. Since he has a clear role and playing time in Detroit, he might choose to stay but a potential bidding war could force the Pistons to part ways with the veteran sharpshooter.
