The Detroit Lions are going through serious changes in the offseason. After their unexpected loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs, the Lions saw their two coveted coordinators leave for head coaching jobs. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was hired by the Jets to be their new head coach and replaced internally by Kelvin Sheppard.

On Monday, Glenn gave his first press conference as the Jets head coach. Speaking to the media members in New York, Glenn spoke highly of Dan Campbell and praised the Lions head coach.

Aaron Glenn Has the Utmost Praise for Dan Campbell

Per Lions beat writer Ben Raven, the former defensive coordinator called Campbell an "outstanding man" and complimented the job they have done in their four seasons together in Detroit.

Campbell and Glenn's working relationship goes way past their time in Detroit. The duo played for the Cowboys in the 2005 season before reuniting as coaches in New Orleans in 2016. While Campbell was the assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the Saints for five seasons, Glenn was on the staff as the defensive backs coach.

When Dan Campbell was hired as the Lions head coach in the 2021 offseason, he immediately hired Glenn as his defensive coordinator.

Their first season didn't get off to a great start, going winless in their first 11 games. After finishing their first season with a 3-13-1 record, the Lions took a massive step forward the next season, clinching their first winning campaign since 2017.

That is what Glenn is talking about when he says, "We were at the very bottom, you know what we did? We took it to the top." Even though the Lions ultimately came up short of their Super Bowl goals, they were the best regular-season team in franchise history. For the past two seasons, they were one of the best teams in the NFL.

The culture and locker room chemistry Campbell and Glenn built had a lot to do with that success.

Glenn helped lead this team to a top-ten defense for the first time in a decade despite being decimated by injuries all season. Now, he will look to do the same with the Jets and Lions fans wish him nothing but the best.
