The Detroit Lions have been dealing with injuries up and down the defensive depth chart since training camp opened. It is about time some good injury news broke their way, and that happened on Wednesday morning while Dan Campbell addressed the media in Detroit.

After suffering a leg injury during a practice session on Monday, the Lions found themselves staring down the possibility of being without a fourth member of the defensive front for an undetermined amount of time.

Fortunately, those concerns proved to be nothing for fans to worry about as Campbell revealed rookie edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein would rejoin Detroit's roster on Wednesday for the first session of the team's joint practices against the Miami Dolphins.

"Ahmed should be out there today," Campbell said, via Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. "It was just a little bit of a scare. He should be out there working, which is good."

Hassanein had his leg rolled up while rushing the passer during Monday's practice session, per Bianchi's reporting, and was forced to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the day. The fact that the sixth-round pick was able to get back onto the field as quickly as he did is a good sign, as the Lions really cannot afford to continue losing pieces along the defensive front.

With Alim McNeil, Josh Paschal, and Mekhi Wingo already dinged up, Detroit doesn't need to suffer through any more injuries in the trenches. While dealing with no injury scares is undoubtedly better than the alternative, this particular issue being less serious than some of the others the Lions have encountered to this point is a positive.

Detroit is set to make its preseason debut at Ford Field this weekend when the Lions host the Dolphins on Saturday afternoon. Barring no further setbacks, Hassanein should be on the field for that matchup as he looks to build on the six tackles he has recorded in two preseason appearances thus far.
