The Detroit Lions have had quite an eventful 2025 offseason. Detroit began the offseason by losing both offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to head coaching opportunities. Then, at the start of June, All-Pro center Frank Ragnow surprisingly retired.

Through all the changes, head coach Dan Campbell has remained confident in the Lions' outlook for the 2025 season. His resolve and belief in his guys are the qualities that have endeared him to Lions fans. That said, Campbell's attitude and ability to lead continue to earn him respect from his former coordinators.

Last week, Glenn spoke to the New York Jets reporters about the impact Campbell had on him. Glenn said, "I give a lot of credit to Coach Campbell in Detroit. Because he allowed me to actually act in the position of being a head coach. To be able to do the calendar for the offseason, to plan training camp out—be able to make decisions that he was supposed to make, but he allowed me to make those decisions to get me ready to be in this position.”

Aaron Glenn Reflects on Dan Campbell's Impact on Him Becoming a Head Coach

Glenn's comments on Campbell preparing him to become a head coach are just another example of his belief in his staff and players. Most head coaches don't delegate the scheduling of offseason and training camp practices to their coordinators. Campbell giving Glenn that chance goes to show how much he believed in Glenn becoming a head coach someday.

While having a chance to perform those duties before becoming a head coach is helpful, Glenn has a lot to overcome as the head coach of the Jets. The Jets organization has been a laughing stock of the NFL for the past 14 years, mainly due to their inability to find a franchise quarterback.

However, Glenn saw firsthand in Detroit how to turn a failed franchise around, and that's the type of success New York is hoping for with the hire. With Glenn in the AFC, Lions fans can cheer for their former coordinators' new team and hope Campbell's lessons pay off.
