Ndamukong Suh making Detroit Lions headlines in 2025 comes as an unexpected surprise for a fan base that feels far removed from the days of Stafford and Suh. This doesn't appear to be the case for Suh, however, with the former Lions defender all too happy to throw his team under the bus years down the road. Suh commented on what he believed was a broken Detroit promise after signing his rookie deal.

Suh alleges the Lions made it clear the franchise would take care of the defender down the road because they were unable to surpass Stafford's rookie deal. This would lead to Suh's assertion that the team didn't follow through and it would lead to the defender signing a massive contract with the Miami Dolphins.

Ndamukong Suh Still Hasn't Gotten Over His Divorce From the Detroit Lions

It is hard to feel sorry for Suh when the defender clearly didn't fit Detroit's timeline of contention. Not only this, but everything worked out with the veteran cashing in with Miami before playing his final seasons with the Rams, Bucs, and Eagles. This would include winning a Super Bowl with Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Bucs.

Suh's time in Detroit ending doesn't come as a surprise either when you consider the consistent headlines the defender earned. Yes, playing with a level of violence and intensity is required, yet Suh always found a way to push things just over the edge.

The Lions paying Suh top dollar simply didn't make sense when you considered the potential risk against where the Lions were. All of this adds up to a bitter former player who should be putting his arms around a new generation of Lions, not revisiting the contract frustrations from a decade ago.

Ndamukong Suh has an interesting and complicated history in Detroit. He just added a new layer to his vocal criticism of the Lions that has continued for many years since leaving Detroit. But Suh had a great career and remains one of the better Lions in recent memory. Still, it is time to let the past go and focus on a Detroit team with every reason to believe they can contend for a Super Bowl.

For the Lions, it isn't a headline worth paying attention to. It is a critique of a former regime far removed from today's Detroit Lions.
