Several NFL teams have made numerous changes to their 90-man roster as we head into the second week of preseason.

At this point in the preseason, the action is starting to heat up as fringe veterans and rookies are making their pushes towards a spot on the 53-man roster or the practice squad.

The Detroit Lions have been busy over the last couple of days, signing a slew of new players as they’ve lost a few guys to season-ending injuries. That said, Detroit fans should expect to see more roster movement as the roster cutdown day approaches at the end of this month.

One position we should expect to see change is at the QB2 spot, as Kyle Allen and Hendon Hooker are entrenched in a tough battle. The loser could likely be out of Detroit and looking for a new job.

Speaking of QB, a former Lions signal-caller has already been sent packing by his new team with two weeks left in preseason.

Ex-Lions QB Tim Boyle Given Harsh Reality After Being Cut by Tennessee Titans

On Monday, ESPN’s Turron Davenport reported that the Tennessee Titans released former Lions QB Tim Boyle.

Boyle, who has been the quintessential journeyman quarterback, just joined the Titans earlier this offseason after spending parts of last season with the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins.

The 30-year-old quarterback played in the Titans’ first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend and performed poorly. The ex-Lions signal-caller completed 4-of-13 passes for 24 yards and two interceptions. He was also sacked once and had a 0.6 rating.

It’s clear the Titans wanted to go in a different direction in their QB room after what they saw from the journeyman. Lions fans vaguely remember Boyle’s time in the Motor City, as he played in five games and three starts during the 2021 season.

The Lions did not fare well in those starts as they lost all three games. During his short stint as a starter, Boyle completed 64.9 percent of his passes for 526 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions.

After the 2021 season, the Lions re-signed Boyle to compete for a spot ahead of the 2022 NFL regular season. However, Detroit released the veteran at the end of preseason, but signed him to the practice squad.

Boyle didn’t spend the entire 2022 season in Detroit, as the Chicago Bears signed him in late November. It’s shocking to see Boyle still get opportunities, as he’s a career 60.5% passer with five touchdowns and 13 interceptions on his resume.

Even though Boyle was cast aside by the Titans, it wouldn’t be shocking to see his name pop up in a workout in the coming weeks, as he always finds his way on a practice squad.
