The Detroit Lions have seen their coaching staff get taken apart following their early postseason exit. The Lions have seen multiple assistant coaches leave town for other opportunities.

Aaron Glenn became the New York Jets head coach and took tight ends coach Steve Heiden and pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand with him. Meanwhile, Ben Johnson is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

He decided to take wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El and assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett with him over to the Windy City, giving them promotions.

The buck didn't stop there, and a former Lions receiver is signing with the Bears. According to Aaron Wilson KPRC2, the Bears signed receiver Maurice Alexander to a reserve/future contract.

Lions News: Maurice Alexander Joins the Chicago Bears

Alexander started his pro football career in the USFL in 2022 with the Philadelphia Stars. During the season with the Stars, he made plays all over the field. Alexander racked up 20 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns. As a kickoff returner, he had 787 return yards (31.4 yards per return).

That helped him land a contract with the Lions prior to the start of the 2022 season. In that season, Alexander suited up in four games, recording one catch for seven yards. He also had six kickoff returns for 146 yards.

The 28-year-old was cut and re-signed by the Lions multiple over the last three years but landed with the Bears. The connection with Johnson is something that got him the opportunity with the Bears.

With Alexander signing a reserve/future deal, he'll get a chance to fight for a roster spot during minicamp and training camp. Johnson is a first-time head coach and is looking for familiarity. Alexander provides that and gets the opportunity to play under Johnson once again.
