Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Josh Reynolds will look for a new team when free agency starts next week. On Thursday, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars released Reynolds.
Jacksonville today released WR Josh Reynolds, whom they had claimed after he was waived last December by #Broncos.

The veteran wide receiver also played with the Denver Broncos last season, who waived him in December. Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos after he spent the previous three years with the Detroit Lions.
The 30-year-old pass catcher struggled to make a significant impact with the Broncos last season. Reynolds only played in five games before being placed on injured reserve in early October with a hand injury.
While on injured reserve, Reynolds was wounded in a shooting in Denver, as he was reportedly shot in his left arm and the back of his head. Thankfully, the veteran wide receiver was okay and was designated to return from injured reserve in November.
Reynolds did not play in another game with the Broncos as they waived him on Dec. 3, but he quickly picked up a day later by the Jags. In his short stint with the Broncos, Reynolds posted 12 receptions (19 targets) for 183 yards and a touchdown.
Things did not get much better for Reynolds in Jacksonville, as he had one catch (five targets) for 11 yards in four games.
When the veteran wide receiver was in Detroit, he had carved out a solid role in the WR3 spot within Ben Johnson’s scheme. Reynolds’ best season with the Lions was in 2023, the same year that Detroit went to the NFC title game.
The 6-foot-3 wide receiver had 40 receptions (64 targets) for 608 yards and five touchdowns (career-high). With this year’s free agency wide receiver class not being uber-talented, the former Lion should be able to find a new opportunity.
Reynolds could reunite with Johnson in Chicago as the Bears need a WR3. The same can be said for the Lions as veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick is a pending free agent. Detroit will hope to re-sign Patrick after a solid 2024 season, but no one knows how free agency will play out.
