With the offseason craze now over, we have entered the dog days of the NBA calendar. Teams have largely finalized their rosters for next season, except for a few remaining free agents. Barring unforeseen developments, the Detroit Pistons are entering the 2025-26 campaign with the current roster.

This means that in the coming weeks, we will see players signing new overseas deals after failing to land NBA contracts. This will include former Pistons players heading for new opportunities.

That is what happened with one former starter for Detroit on Friday.

Former Pistons Vet Tony Snell Ends NBA Hopes by Signing Overseas Deal

Eurohoops reported that former Pistons wing Tony Snell is signing a deal with the newly promoted French team Boulazac Basket Dordogne. The 33-year-old small forward had spent the previous two seasons in the G League, and the fact that he is now headed overseas to a non-EuroLeague team suggests that his time in the NBA is likely done.

Snell spent the 2019-20 season with the Pistons after he was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks. As a Piston, Snell started in 57 games and played 27.8 minutes per game. He averaged 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, and a career-high 2.2 assists per game while shooting an impressive 40.2% from beyond the arc.

Yet, his tenure in Detroit was short-lived as he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks after the season. Following that, he embodied the true NBA journeyman, playing for the Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, and the New Orleans Pelicans in the next two seasons.

The former New Mexico Logos standout was never able to establish himself as more than a role player in the NBA, but was a solid 3-and-D player in the league for a long time. Playoff success eluded Snell in the NBA, but he was still able to carve out a successful nine-year career. Now, he hopes to find success in Europe in his new adventure.
