The Detroit Lions had one of their worst offensive performances in the past three seasons in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. Detroit scored just 13 points and gained a total of 246 yards, 200 passing and 46 rushing. Despite a horrible offensive showing under new offensive coordinator John Morton, it only took Lions rookie receiver Isaac TeSlaa one play to capture everyone's attention.

In the final minute of the game, Detroit was finally putting together a scoring drive. To cap off the drive, quarterback Jared Goff found TeSlaa in the endzone for a crazy one-handed 13-yard touchdown catch. Though it was originally called incomplete on the field, upon further review, it was ruled a touchdown.

TeSlaa's score showed exactly the kind of talent the rookie possesses.

Lions Rookie WR Isaac TeSlaa Dazzles Fans With Amazing Catch in Week 1

When TeSlaa was drafted in the third round this year, many Lions fans thought it was a reach. This is because general manager Brad Holmes forked over three third-round picks for the 23-year-old. For a player who never put up more than 550 receiving yards in college, it was definitely a gamble.

However, the former Arkansas wide receiver quickly made an impact in training camp and the preseason. TeSlaa finished the Lions' preseason with 10 receptions on 13 targets for 146 yards and three touchdowns. As a result of his preseason production, Detroit traded away veteran receiver Tim Patrick.

Still, questions lingered if TeSlaa would be able to recreate his production against better competition in the regular season. Although the 23-year-old made just one catch in the season opener, it may end up being one of the best touchdown catches seen all season.

TeSlaa flashing his potential in the first game of the season is big for the Lions' receiving corps. Detroit just inked Jameson Williams to a three-year contract extension, along with having Amon-Ra St. Brown. Having a third young receiver emerge as someone whom Goff can rely on will help the Lions' offense.

After their week 1 performance, Detroit's offense needs some sort of spark. That said, having one of the best skill position groups in the NFL doesn't mean anything without an elite offensive line, which showed in Week 1.
