The Detroit Lions were able to get their first of the season in Week 2, thanks to a dominating 52-21 victory over the Chicago Bears.

There was some extra emotion due to Ben Johnson's return to the Motor City for the first time since leaving to become the Bears' head coach. John Morton replaced the aforementioned Johnson as the offensive coordinator, and after Detroit's offensive explosion, Jameson Williams said he didn't think there was any change on the offensive side.

Following the game, Williams said, "You saw the 50 points up there... I don’t think it’s really a drop-off without Ben — shoutout to Ben, he’s a great coach, great play-caller. But we make plays, man. I really don't see a difference or drop-off from Ben to Johnny Mo."

After a Week 1 showing where the Lions had 13 points and 246 total yards of offense, that unit took things personally and went off against Chicago. For the first time in franchise history, Detroit had 500+ total net yards, five passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns. They also had a franchise record 8.8 yards per play.

This outing had offensive stars Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Williams all get into the endzone. St. Brown led the way with three receiving touchdowns, while Williams had 108 receiving yards and a score.

Morton got everyone involved as the offense moved up and down the field with ease. During Johnson's run in Detroit, the offense has been known for its dynamic playmaking ability and willingness to add new wrinkles. The loss of Johnson was something that was talked about repeatedly throughout the offseason, and it's clear that players in Detroit's locker room were tired of hearing it.

They went out on the field in Week 2 and showcased that this offense can still be elite without Johnson calling the plays. And the fact that they put up this performance against the Bears makes that outing much sweeter.

Williams and the playmakers on offense have complete faith in Morton's offense and scheme. It's obvious that these players know that they can make plays, and they have no doubt about Morton running the show. He put them in positions to succeed on Sunday, which is what they knew would happen all along.

It just came to fruition for fans and the NFL world to see.
