The Detroit Lions had a successful regular season in 2024. They finished with a 15-2 record and clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Unfortunately, things didn't end well, as they got bounced in the NFC Divisional Round.
They have flipped their focus over to the 2025 season, as there is just one game left before the season comes to a close.
30 teams in the NFL are looking at ways to improve their roster. The Lions fall in that bracket and the latest report could excite the fans.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler named some teams that could be an option for Los Angeles receiver Cooper Kupp and listed the Detroit Lions due to the connection with Jared Goff.
Fowler wrote, "Kupp would have instant chemistry with Jared Goff if the Lions were willing to make a move."
Kupp posted on his X account that the Los Angeles Rams are looking for trade partners as they seek to trade the 31-year-old.
The Lions could end up being a potential landing spot, in large part to the connection that the two built during their time in Los Angeles.
From 2017-2021 (54 games), these two guys combined for 288 catches for 3,570 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns.
They formed one of the best QB/WR duos in the league and there could be a pathway to reunite if the Lions think that could be a good fit.
Kupp has two years left on his deal. He has $29.7 million cap hit in 2025 and $27.3 million cap hit in 2026. He would likely need to restructure his deal to get a deal done. If the Lions believe he's worth the investment, they could look to acquire Kupp and reunite him with Goff.
That would give the Lions a three-headed monster at WR with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. The offense still features Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, and David Montgomery.
It's very early in the offseason but rumors have begun circulating. And this one could excite Detroit fans.
