The Matthew Stafford trade was one of the few instances in which everybody won. He won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, and the Detroit Lions, against all odds, also landed a franchise quarterback in the transaction.
Jared Goff has looked the part since he arrived in Motor City. However, as much as he's improved since he departed from sunny California, he's still left some to be desired in key moments, which is why some still question his character.
That's why Graham Glasgow's comments on him being a bit of "a diva," albeit innocent, say a lot. For starters, it shows that he's trying to be more aggressive and assertive, and he's looking to be in control of even the tiniest detail.
Graham Glasgow Says Jared Goff Is More Demanding Now
"He’s a lot more demanding than I remember when I was at guard. I get a little sweaty, he’s always telling me to change my pants and stuff. He can be a little diva. But he's a good dude and great to work with," Glasgow said, per Will Burchfield.
Tom Brady infamously powdered Ted Karras' butt with baby powder because it was too sweaty for him. He went to great lengths to control every tiny aspect of the game, up to the point where he would literally let his center know exactly how he needed to fold his towel and put it in his butt.
Taking a page out of Tom Brady's book has usually worked out pretty well for quarterbacks. Goff closed out the season on a high note by throwing three interceptions in the playoff loss to the Washington Commanders, so he should have a big chip on his shoulder now.
Glasgow took the center duties after veteran Frank Ragnow retired this offseason. He has some experience at center, but after missing some time in training camp with an injury, there might be a bit of an adjustment period there.
Goff knows there's a lot at stake for him and for the Lions after losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson in the offseason. And with the big-money deal the Lions gave him, he has to prove that he's the guy this team needs.
His job is pretty much safe, but as a former No. 1 pick and a competitor, he knows he has to be better to turn the narrative around him once and for all.
