Lions Announce National Anthem Singer for Vikings Showdown in Week 18
By Cem Yolbulan
The Detroit Lions are getting ready for one of the biggest games in franchise history. On Sunday Night Football, the Lions are facing a fellow 14-2 team in the Minnesota Vikings with a chance to clinch the NFC North and the top seed in the NFC.
All eyes will be on this Week 18 showdown in which the Lions are 2.5-point favorites per FanDuel Sportsbook. If Detroit were to beat the Vikings in their season finale, they would get an additional week of rest before their first playoff game, a massive boost for a team in desperate need of getting key players back from injury.
As an organization, the Lions are ready to put on a show at Ford Field. They already announced that Michigan native and a big Lions fan, the pop singer Quinn XCII will perform at the halftime show.
It turns out Quinn XCII will not be the only local talent on display per Edward Pevos of MLive. S.O.U.L. (Shades of United Ladies), an R&B female quartet from Detroit, will be performing the national anthem before the kickoff. According to their Facebook page, the band consists of Bianca Barber, Angela Davis, Ava Jay, and Karla Pace.
Previously, the band sang the national anthem on the New Year's Day showdown between the Lions and the Bears in 2023 and performed in a few Pistons games per their YouTube page.
The atmosphere at Ford Field on Sunday night is sure to be electrifying. The pregame and the halftime performances will likely contribute to it and give the Lions a boost for their crucial season finale.
