There aren't many players on the Detroit Lions roster that anyone can talk ill about in 2024. This is one of the most loaded teams in the NFL, and there's a reason that they're Super Bowl favorites on every sportsbook (+270 on FanDuel, for example).

But one of the players who has been catching some flack (including from yours truly here) is slot cornerback Amik Robertson. And apparently, he's taking that personally.

After a post started going around about how Khalil Shakir is going to destroy him (and that the poster was going to be betting on Shakir exceeding his projected totals on every stat), Robertson had a very simple response, which felt directed at both the poster and at Shakir himself.

Amik Robertson Weighs in on Khalil Shakir Prop Bets

Is it petty for an NFL player to be responding to a guy with less than 9,000 followers? Of course. But that competitive spirit is something Detroit loves about Robertson.

For all of his struggles in coverage, at 5-foot-8 he's an entirely fearless run defender, and PFF has him graded out at No. 21 in run defense among the 204 cornerbacks graded in that area. So sure, he's beatable in the passing game, but you don't want to get on the wrong side of a guy who manages to be in the top 10% of run defenders at his position despite being heavily undersized.

Plus, while his grade is low, Robertson's actual coverage stats have not been that bad. PFF credits him with allowing a 91.9 passer rating when targeted in coverage. That's poor compared to the other Lions DBs, but it's actually still a shade below the NFL league average of 92.1.

Shakir has been one of the NFL's most productive slot receivers this season, with his 48 slot receptions and 521 slot yards, ranking No. 2 in the NFL. Josh Allen has an outstanding 119.2 passer rating when targeting Shakir in the slot.

For those of you wondering what the Khalil Shakir prop bets look like this week, they're not yet available on any of the major US sportsbooks. FanDuel and DraftKings have lines posted for the Lions receivers, but none yet for the Bills' pass-catchers — likely because of the uncertainty with Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid both working toward potential returns to action.

However, the line for the game as a whole is something Lions fans will like to see. They're 2.5-point favorites in a game that, with a 54.5-point over/under, is projected on FanDuel to be an absolute shootout.

How much Robertson can back up his confidence remains one of the big question marks that will help decide this showdown.
