The Detroit Lions have the next phase of the offseason coming up as they open OTAs on May 28. The last couple of months have been a big change for the Lions. They lost multiple coaches on their staff, headlined by offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Despite having to replace multiple spots on the coaching staff, they are returning the bulk of their roster for the 2025 season. The Lions have the fourth-highest percentage of players returning in 2025 at 80%.

Detroit Lions Have 80% of Players Returning in 2025

That is an underrated advantage for the Lions. Having the bulk of the team coming back allows them to continue building their chemistry to another level instead of looking to start that for the first time.

The Lions had one of the best rosters in the league last season, logging a 15-2 record and NFC North title. Even though they fell short in the playoffs, they will be able to bounce back in the fall.

Having guys like Jared Goff, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, and Kerby Joseph coming back goes a long way. The Lions have shown the ability to develop talent, and they made sure to keep these guys around.

Dan Campbell is still the lead man in charge, so you can expect the Lions to come out prepared and aggressive. While the coaching staff irons things out over the next couple of months before the season kicks off, they have players whom they can lean on.

The Lions have increased their win total in each season over the past three years and have developed into a stout Super Bowl contender.

Offensive coordinator John Morton and defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard will certainly rely on their players as they seek to have these units humming in 2025.

Look for the Lions to still be among the top teams in 2025, and returning 80% of the roster will likely be a driving force in that success.
